Sovereign Good Launches as a Philanthropic Advisory Firm for Donors Ready to Move Beyond Intention
Founded by four practitioners in Chicago and Los Angeles, the firm advises philanthropists, families, and next-generation individuals collectively.
CHICAGO, IL and LOS ANGELES, CA — June 26, 2026 — Sovereign Good, a new philanthropic advisory firm, launches today with a vision to guide the next generation of donors and institutional funders to redefine giving for the common good. The firm helps donors, families, and foundations build strategies and governance for donations to close the gap between generous intent and real community impact.
The launch arrives at a consequential moment for American giving. An estimated $84 trillion in wealth will change hands over the next two decades, according to Cerulli Associates, and more than $230 billion already sits in donor-advised funds, according to the National Philanthropic Trust. The capacity to address the country's hardest problems is already here. The firm educates, guides, and activates bold and audacious donors so they're empowered to resource historically neglected spaces effectively.
"We started Sovereign Good because we have seen what becomes possible when philanthropic capital is guided by both rigor and moral clarity, and how rare that pairing still is," the firm's Co-Founders said in a joint statement. "We advise as a collective, accountable to the donor writing the check and to the communities who live with the results. Holding both in high consideration is the whole point."
Sovereign Good centers its practice on what it calls the Sovereign Advisory Relationship. Before making any recommendation, Sovereign Good conducts rigorous due diligence across every issue area — ensuring clients fund organizations with demonstrated capacity, sound governance, and organic community trust, not just a compelling narrative. The four Principals advise as a collective, drawing on a network of philanthropic institutions, government partners, nonprofit organizations, and trusted community leaders they have built relationships with throughout decades of working alongside them. That network lets the firm see what no database or algorithm can: community impact beyond the numbers. Sovereign Good builds each engagement to hold across time, market cycles, and family transitions.
Sovereign Good works with clients along three paths: purpose — those ready to give meaningfully but unsure how to begin; those done funding stopgaps and intent on shifting power; and those who want their philanthropy held to the same standard as their private portfolio, legacy.
The firm was built by four practitioners with 65 collective years across corporate and philanthropic institutions, many of them born and raised in the communities most often at the center of philanthropy. The Principals are Joanna Aguirre, based in Los Angeles, California, and Francisco Martinez, Samuel Muñeton Jr., and Rupal Soni, based in Chicago, Illinois. Their backgrounds span institutional grantmaking, communications and narrative strategy, small-business lending, capital deployment, venture capital, and program design. Full biographies are available on the company's website.
